Jennifer S. Rako

Jennifer Rako, a resident of Chatham, Massachusetts, became a Partner in 2022. Her practice is exclusively focused on estate planning, and trust and estate administration. Ms. Rako joined the firm in 2005 as Counsel. Prior to moving her practice to the Cape and Islands region. Ms. Rako was a partner at Murtha, Cullina, a firm with offices in Connecticut and Massachusetts. A graduate of Northeastern University School of Law, Ms. Rako spent her early years of practice at the international firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart (now K&L Gates).

Ms. Rako has extensive experience preparing wills, various trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies. She also advises clients with respect to family gift planning, planning for incapacity, charitable giving, and prenuptial agreements. In addition to probating estate matters, Ms. Rako appears in probate court on petitions for conservatorships, guardianships, and adoptions.

Community Involvement

In 2018, Ms. Rako helped create the Women’s Early Detection (WED) Fund at Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation, which provides grants for diagnostic procedures not otherwise covered by insurance for women’s cancers. Each year, she partners with Cape Cod Academy, in Osterville, Massachusetts, to host a dance marathon to raise money for the fund. She serves as Chair of the Endowment and Planned Giving Committees at Cape Cod Synagogue in Hyannis, Massachusetts, where she also serves as acting president (having completed her official term as president). Ms. Rako’s prior philanthropic endeavors include fulfilling a full term (nine years) as a Trustee for the Eldredge Public Library in Chatham, Massachusetts.

Personal

Ms. Rako was born in Bronx, New York, raised in Newton, Massachusetts, and has lived in Chatham since 1995. She is a serious animal lover, movie buff, and foodie. She cherishes her leisure time with family and friends, especially trips with her adult daughter.
